Five tavernas in the region been awarded the Vakhis designation, showing their commitment to high quality regional ingredients and traditional recipes. The “Vakhis” award, names after a famous Cypriot chef who lived in the ancient city of Kition in 300 AD, is a pilot project sponsored by the Cyprus Tourism Organisation with the support of the Higher Hotel Institute, the Association of Cyprus Chefs and Eurotoques International. The scheme is voluntary and was based on an exhaustive evaluation process.
